Laytu Lumbar Cushion in Cotton and Silk
Handwoven in Myanmar (Burma), on a traditional backstrap loom, in collaboration with Turquoise Mountain as part of their textile conservation programme. Backstrap weaving is a time-honoured skill, and one that has been passed down through generations within the Chin community. It is an extremely complex skill and takes an incredible amount of patience, whereby the weaver hand-picks the heritage patterns into the weft using a porcupine spine. A truly unique and labour-intensive task! Scroll right to see some photos of our wonderful weavers at work.
The size of this cushion is 87cm x 45cm, the composition is cotton & silk. All cushions come with duck feather inserts.
