A wayzgoose was at one time an entertainment given by a master printer to their artisans each year. It marked the traditional end of summer and the start of the season of working by candlelight.
Wayzgoose was founded with the aim of supporting heritage textile techniques. Taking a holistic approach to the creation of our textiles, our studio proudly works with entirely natural processes & materials. Promoting regenerative & sustainable practices, we specialise in natural dyes, natural fibre & traditional printing processes.
Wayzgoose was founded by Katherine Preston
Katherine studied Printed Textiles and Surface Pattern Design at Leeds College of Art. After leaving university Katherine worked for British textile company, Fermoie. After six years as Head of Studio at Fermoie, Katherine moved to Myanmar (Burma), where she joined Turquoise Mountain (a British charity founded by HRH Prince Charles). Running a textile conservation programme, the focus was to preserve and promote Myanmar’s textile rich heritage, working with weavers across multiple regions using both backstrap and frame loom weaving. Returning to the UK in 2019, Katherine founded Wayzoose in 2020.
